Quit Smoking - Tobacco Cessation Program
What is the tobacco cessation program?
An AmeriHealth Caritas Northeast program created to help members quit smoking or using other tobacco products.
Am I eligible to be a part of this program?
All AmeriHealth Caritas Northeast members are eligible for 70 tobacco cessation counseling sessions per calendar year. (Each session is a 15-minute face-to-face counseling session, either individually or in a group.) Members do not need a referral or permission from their primary care practitioner (PCP) to go to a counseling session. The provider holding the sessions must participate in the Medical Assistance Program and be approved by the Department of Health. Call us at 1-855-809-9200 to find the approved providers in your area.
Members who are eligible for prescription services may get tobacco cessation drug products, such as bupropion and the generic nicotine patch, with a written prescription from their health care provider.
Members under 18 years of age can have a prescription for smoking cessation medicines without the permission of a parent or guardian.
